We all know about the power of Photoshop. It is the world's leading photo editing software. Adobe have now put a cut down version - Photoshop Express Editor. It certainly doesn't have all of the fantastic features of the full Photoshop package, but it is FREE.
Here's how it works. You go to the website photoshop.com . there you will be asked to register for an account. This is straightforward. All you need to give is your e mail and then make up a password. They will send you a confirmation e mail. Click on the link and go to the site again to sign in. You are first of all asked to set up a name for your own photoshop website.
The next stpe is to upload a photograph ( only jpegs at this stage ) and get editing. Its as easy as that.
This screen is the on line editor screen. You can see all of the options for editing on the left hand side. You get cut down versions of all of the photoshop main image editing options, with a few extras like colour popping and conversion to a sketch or line drawing. You can zoom in to see the effect close up. You can click to compare with the original easily. After you have finished editing you get the option to save your image.
For many basic editing features, this is all you need. Well worth the money.
But that's not all. You also get your own on line version of the Photoshop Elements Photomerge tool which allows you to upload a photograph and apply one of the "styles" to it There are only a few in this free version, but you can register for more if you like the idea. It is a one click way to add a particular style to your shots.
What do you do with your finished images ? Well you can just download them on your computer. On the other hand you could use the third free section of this free resource. This is the "My gallery" section. You have up to 2 Gb free storage to save all of your images online. You can put them into albums, make collections, send directly to picassa, facebook, photobucket, etc. You can even load them directly to your flickr account.
Photos can be grouped into albums or put into group albums for group projects. At the end of all this organising you can even create your own slideshow of selected images.
To be quite honest, it is worth setting up an account just for the storage facility in the organiser. treat the editing and photomerge as extras and you really have to give this a try.
